The Town of Fishkill is requesting bids for improvements to the Rombout Water District. The project scope of work includes isolating a storage tank from the system and adjusting pressures in the water mains. This work might affect the plumbing in your home or business.
The Rombout system has several Pressure-Regulating Valves (PRV’s) controlling pressure in the mains. After isolating the tank, the town will adjust the control settings on the PRV’s to achieve an improved pressure balance to the best extent possible.
Most household plumbing systems are best suited for 35-80 psi. and this improvement will create zones of higher-than-standard pressure (the Higher-Pressure Zone) which could cause leaks in some household plumbing systems. The Town strongly urges you to install a Pressure Reducing Valve (PRV) on your home water supply, if one is not already present, in order to prevent leaking.
