Building Permits
In the Town of Fishkill, both state and local codes required that no person or organization shall begin to excavate, construct, demolish or change the nature of the occupancy without having first applied for and obtained a permit.
In order to assure that your project is completed safely and in accordance with all town requirements, a building permit is required for most types of home improvements. In order to get your project moving as quickly as possible, your application for a permit should be filed at least two weeks in advance of the start of your project.
IMPORTANT UPDATE (EFFECTIVE 3/1/19):
New York State Workers Compensation Board has made it mandatory, effective immediately, for homeowners doing their own projects to use the CE-200 form. The BP-1 form can no longer be used. The Building Department Permit Applications will have a form in the application packet with instructions on how to obtain the approved CE-200 form.
