Refuse & Recycling
The Town does not operate a Refuse Removal district. Residents and businesses in the Town of Fishkill must arrange for a private hauler to collect their garbage.
Town of Fishkill Green Dump
Hours of Operation:
Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
NO DUMPING OF BRUSH IN THE HIGHWAY YARD

Location: The Green Dump is located on Geering Way in the Town of Fishkill. It can be accessed by continuing past the Town Highway Garage on Geering Way, continuing around the turn and proceeding up the hill slightly - it is located on the right-hand side.
Permitted Users:
The Green Dump is restricted to Town of Fishkill residents only. Contractors and Commercial entities are strictly prohibited from dumping at the facility. Please have identification available for presentation anytime you visit the Green Dump site.
Permissible Items:
Grass clippings, leaves, flowers, brush in paper bags, twigs, branches, small logs not exceeding 8" in diameter, pine needles, shrub and bush trimmings.
Non-permissible Items:
Garbage, concrete, metal, lumber, fencing, stumps, logs larger than 8" in diameter, plastic bags, dirt, stones, pavers, rocks or any material considered to be refuse.
Illegal Dumping:
You will be subject to a fine of $1,000.00 for failure to comply with the Green Dump Rules. This includes any dumping in non-specified areas, dumping outside of the Green Dump, dumping in any area in the vicinity of the Green Dump that is not permitted or dumping any material that is non-permissible as indicated above.

This law does not apply to: barbecue grills, small cooking & camp fires, ceremonial or celebratory bonfires, disposal of a flag or religious article, and fire training exercises. Battery Disposal
Dutchess County Resource Recovery Agency, located at 41 Sand Dock Road, Poughkeepsie, accepts all kinds of batteries. Information is available from Dutchess County Resource Recovery Agency at http://www.dcrra.org/ or call (845) 463-6020.

Since 1991 all Dutchess County residents have been required to keep certain items separated from their trash for recycling. The following items should be separated from trash for recycling: glass bottles and jars, tin cans, aluminum foil products, plastic bottles, newspapers and corrugated cardboard. The Town of Fishkill offers a Town wide clean-up day one time annually usually the third Saturday in September, the date is set by the Town Board annually.
