Town Regulations
Leash Law
The Town of Fishkill requires that all animals be kept on a leash at all times when leaving your private property.
Bicycle Registration
Registration is provided free of charge through the Police Department and is the best means of assuring that you and your bicycle will be reunited if it is found by the Police Department. Helmets are required by law, to be worn by children under the age of 14.
Curfew
Fishkill does not impose a curfew on a regular basis. However, a curfew is in effect for Halloween. Per the Halloween Curfew legislation that was adopted on October 16, 1997, the curfew will be enforced every October 30, 31 and November 1 of each year between the evening hours from 8:00 pm to 4:00 am. It shall be unlawful for any minor (any person under the age 18 years) to congregate, stroll, wander, play or operate a motor vehicle in, about or upon any public park, public area, street, road, or highway in the town.
Fire Hydrant
For safety's sake, the town is asking those who have a fire hydrant on their property, to please keep it clear of plant growth and snow. This will allow the Fire Department easy access in case of an emergency.
Parking
Town Ordinance allows only one unregistered vehicle to be parked on your property. More than one is subject to fines.
Snow Ordinance
The Snow Ordinance is in effect from November 1 through April 1 each year. Please do not park on any town road between 1 and 7 am. This will allow the Highway Department easy access for snow removal. It is important to note that fines will be imposed and if necessary, cars may be towed at the owner's expense.
