The Town of Fishkill is participating in New York State Police Reform, as prescribed by Governor Cuomo and former President Trump's Executive Orders on Police Reform. This process has taken place over several months, based on guidance from the State of New York and Dutchess County. This process has involved collaboration with other municipalities and law enforcement agencies in Dutchess County, public comment forums, and the creation of the Town of Fishkill Community Policing Advisory Committee.
The Community Policing Advisory Committee was a diverse group comprised of 27 people from the Fishkill community, including clergy and representatives from the Dutchess County District Attorney's Office. Together, this Committee reviewed the plan prepared by the Chief of Police and offered comments and suggestions to improve the plan, which will be presented to the Town Board at the March 3, 2021 Town Board meeting.
At the conclusion of this presentation on March 3, the Town Board will entertain a Public Comment Session, the final step in this process before the Town Board can move to adopt the Police Reform Plan in advance of the April 1, 2021 deadline. Public comment can be made in person, or for those who are unable to attend the meeting, you can read the Police Reform Plan by clicking the link below, and submit your comments in writing by no later than 12:00p.m. on March 3, 2021. Written comments should be submitted to Supervisor Albra at supervisor@fishkill-ny.gov

Town Board to Hear Public Comment on Public Health Emergency Response Plan
The Town Board will also be accepting public comments on the Town's Public Health Emergency Response Plan at the March 3, 2021 Town Board meeting. This plan is required by State Law, which states public employers must prepare a response plan in the event of declared public health emergencies involving communicable diseases.
The Town has established a Public Health Emergency Response Plan Committee, which has reviewed policies and procedures, determined and specified best practices, and consulted with labor organizations representing employees of the Town. The plan identifies essential positions, outlines remote work opportunities for non-essential positions, and establishes procurement and storage policies for personal protective equipment.
The Public Health Emergency Response Plan will be presented to the Town Board at the March 3, 2021 Town Board meeting. After this presentation, the Town Board will entertain a public comment session. Similar to Police Reform, this public comment session is a requisite part of the process of creating and adopting the plan in advance of the April 1, 2021 deadline.
Those who are unable to attend the meeting can view the plan by clicking the link below and submitting comments in writing by no later than 12:00 p.m. on March 3, 2021. Written comments should be submitted to Supervisor Albra at supervisor@fishkill-ny.gov
